Introducing the Sandpit Hash House Harriers

Take part in the UAE’s newest hash and join our inaugural run on Friday December 9, 2011

But doesn’t the UAE already have enough hashes?
Sure, but almost all of them run in the cities in the evening and during the week. A few of us from Abu Dhabi Island Hash thought it’d be good to have a monthly run out in the desert and during the day.
So how will it work?
On the Friday nearest to the full moon each month, we’ll gather somewhere within two hours’ drive of Abu Dhabi or Dubai and start the run/walk at 4pm. After a quick circle, we’ll settle in for a barbecue, a campfire and some suitable beverages then camp overnight. The idea is for a stress-free hash so it’s BYO food and drink. There’ll be a nominal Dh20 fee to cover beers for the circle and incidental costs.
What about this first run?
For December 9, we’ll be in the mountains near Hatta. Since it’s the first run, we’re charging Dh80  to cover production of a commemorative T-shirt so everyone will know you were one of the select few who were inaugural runners in the Sandpit Hash.
Who’s this for?
We’ve deliberately not included Abu Dhabi in the title because we’d like this to be a pan-Emirates group so other hashers in the sandpit can take turns setting runs in their favourite locations in the desert.
How do I sign up?
There’s no membership fee. You can reach us by signing up to our facebook group or you can email us on sandpit.hash@gmail.com. On on!
